Well Aunty Joan look no further.
Have I got a deal for you...
provided you buy in the next 5 minutes you can have a super 486 yes thats right Aunty Joan (may I call you Joan?) a 486.

This superfast machine comes with a massive 100 Mb hard drive, and 8 (count em) Mb of RAM

Two serial ports and less than two parallel ports couple with a huse 256k video memory for supersharp pictures every time.

Futureproofed with ISA expansion slots, this little beauty will last you a (computer) lifetime

Call now to avoid being disappointed, only $4,200 plus GST

And for the first caller, a complimentary copy of the VERY latest DOS 6.22 will be included with original disks.

55274 2002-06-20 05:11:00 Hey Bruce,
didn't know the new lounge was ready this soon, and just got in through Candy.
But hey it worked. ;-)

55275 2002-06-20 05:15:00 Chris - it's a bit of a lottery. It's all dependent upon caching and how recently someone using that ISP last visited this URL. We set the TTL (time to live) for the DNS details to about 2 hours from memory, so within two hours everyone should make it here. So it might not be how good your ISP is, merely how long since someone using that ISP's DNS server last requested resolution of the PressF1 URL.

Just wanted to set the record straight, since your ISP would be getting a bad rap simply on the basis that you visit PressF1 so frequently (for which we are grateful!!)

55277 2002-06-20 05:37:00 I'm on paradise-cable

i type "pressf1.co.nz" it goes to
www.pressf1.co.nz
and displays the main IDG page still
and candy.idg.co.nz gives me the error:
Error 404

Not found - file doesn't exist or is read protected [even tried multi]

Lotus-Domino 5.0.8
o well i can follow email links, that's how i got here in the first place!

55278 2002-06-20 05:42:00 It's because the old F1 was on that server and DNS is still trying to resolve it to that server. When it doesn't find the path to F1 from there it dumps you at the defacto home page - which is /webhome.nsf.

you can however type:

candy.idg.co.nz

NOT just

candy.idg.co.nz

and it will come here.

55280 2002-06-20 05:51:00 It's filtering through. I've just got proper URLs now. See.... (idg.net.nz) Biggles (121)
55281 2002-06-20 06:07:00 Skite, Bruce.

Anyway, Billy should have used the 180k floppies, not the 160k ones. At least he didn't use the Sinclair stringies. They were the classic write-only medium.

55282 2002-06-20 06:21:00 Sinclair stringies..what luxury...my ZX80 never had those mod cons, only a whacking great 1k of RAM. Still cant get XP to load on it..... godfather (25)
