2002-06-19 20:13:00 | Hi Just wondering who here uses Slingshot as there ISP? If so if you don't mind can you tell me what internet setting you have on that enable you to log on to the net. It seem like the only ISP that can work on my computer was Zfree, nothing else. (I've tried the settings from the slingshot letter but it did not work. I also ask them through e-mail but they did not reply) Computer: 56K modem IE 5.5 Win98 SE ISP: Slingshot So if anyoe could do that for me, I'll be really very grateful. Thanks alot Jase

Double-click on My Computer, then double-click on Dial-Up Networking. Right-click on the connection icon and choose Properties. Click the Configure button Change maximum speedto 38400. Click the Connection tab. Click the Advanced button. In 'Extra settings,' enter the string. +MS=V34 Click OK to save changes. Shut down the computer and restart. This slows your modem to 33K but this is necessary to enable connections in some circumstances. |

2002-06-20 07:02:00 | Hi Jace Sen, Joined up with Slingshot last weekend. It took about 10 minutes to go through changing my default email account settings etc. but everything works ok. Did you instal their little program at the end of the joining form? Let me know precisely what trouble your having, and I'll see if I can help. Cheers. :)

2002-06-22 12:00:00 | I joined up with slingshot as soon as i4free fell over with that telecommunications deal falling through and have never had a problem. I think I let the orignal sign up form do the auto configure thing, but I can't really remember as I've done it manually several times since then. (Had lots of crashes until finally giving 95 the boot with a whole new puter).

2002-06-22 22:04:00 | Hi Jase, same settings as Zfree should work fine, I am also with slingshot. I'm not sure of your location? but Myself & 2 friends down the road are having lots of problems logging on to slingshot as well , Location=Upper Hutt. On a regular basis we get the message "unable to establish connection". Their helpdesk is HELPLESS,they just tell you the usual crap like this, "modem - you may need to update your modem drivers/firmware - contact your modem vendor or manufacturer" or "get telecom to check your phone line for noise". Strange thing is that if I use their i4free number(086730000) I can connect no problems, except you have to redial lots to get a line that is free. Also have been using a mates paradise account with no problems getting connected , So I am convince slingshot has a problem. Cheers Steve PS: try that i4free Number & see what happens

2002-06-22 22:26:00 | Slingshot slowed with connections problems recently due to an influx of new customers when the last free ISP died. They have since added more modems and are pretty much back to full speed again. | cadifan (286) | |
2002-06-23 07:46:00 | Thanks alot guys I manage to get slingshot up and running on my computer (no thanks for slingshot or the helpdesk) it was just 2 small setting that I had to change and slingshot would of worked. It was the "modem speed" and the "cancel the call with xxx secs", it was nothing else expect for these 2 settings. And Steve Askew just glad to know that I'm not the only one having problems with slingshot. And gotta agree with you the HelpDesk is really damn helpless. Just wondering guys which ISP is best for fast downloads and web page viewing? Not gaming or anything else. On a 56k modem of-course Thanks alot I miss Zfree :-(
