| 55744 | 2002-06-21 03:10:00 | My dear old machine that so many of you have tried to help with is on it's last legs. More and more frequently it refuses to boot. I have unplugged the BIOS chip and replaced it and it still doesn't boot. However if I remove it and heat it with wife's hairdryer then replace it away we go. So I'm convinced the chip is the problem. Now I need either a new chip or new setup altogether. Given that AT style motherboards are out of production (or so I'm told) I will have to upgrade everything to ATX if a chip or chip and motherboard can not be found. (Anybody got a chip or motherboard in their junk box?) The relevant details for the chip are: Award Modular BIOS (2a591O09) (note the O&0) Motherboard is Octec Rhino 15 Chipset Intel Triton TX socket seven based Now if any of the readers are in the computer sales field and feel they can do a good deal on a box, as it were, then E-Mail me a quote. It doesn't have to be the worlds quickest machine. What I'm using is quite adequaite. (166 pentium, 256 ram, 2gig hard-drive) So you see It won't take much beating!
