only thing is that then you could kinda be classed as an employee, which would void you from competitions :p

55573 2002-06-25 02:33:00 I think it would be great if we could have some really simple FAQ's relating to Linux distros for those thinking about having a play with it.

Most *newbie* helps that I have found in my expedition still actually assume an understanding greater than most of us would have when we start out. This causes one to *not try* before you give it a go.

I would suggest that people who have questions that fit this category (they will know who they are) will provide the actual questions pretty quickly.

55574 2002-06-25 07:31:00 Elwin,

If someone gives you a glass of water - is it half full or half empty?

> BTW nobody seems to have a use for a deaf computer technician...

Possibly true. BUT... it is possible that there is high demand for a Computer Technician that can either Sign or otherwise communicate with Hearing Impaired people.

My mother is severly deaf and finds that those with good Hearing don't communicate well with her. There must be others with an interest in computers who would appreciate the skills you have to offer.

Dad is currently having computer lessons from the Foundation for the Blind. Does the Hearing Association have similar schemes for the Hearing Impaired? Do they have enquires for computer help? Can you help others?

You have listed 2 negatives:
You are deaf; other people don't communicate.
Where are the positives?

55575 2002-06-25 07:50:00 Joe- Only 1 and 2 are taken so far.
Mike - feel free to have a go.

Elwin - Don't give up. Once my life settles down I will talk to you about this. I had a friend die last weekend and I have some nasty deadlines coming, I am kinda busy.

I think the best way is to post your FAQ suggestion into this thread. It's going to get ugly in here and impossible to follow (it is already).

We can then throw them up as FAQs separately and lock them down, giving them lots of good keywords so they can be found.

I probably need to consult with Buck Man and the other gnomes about this too.

55576 2002-06-25 08:52:00 Hi Robo

1,2,33 & 40 are spoken for. See my post previous page re 33 & 40, unless you have other ideas. I'll fit in where wanted.

Cheers
