| 55468 | 2002-06-20 11:29:00 | My setup process was an outright pain as I had to change my firewall settings repeatedly, and as bad, accept cookies before I could join or make a post. I'll probably take the time to secure my system against F1's intrusiveness later, and of course kill the cookies as too. Pity. The faster load time is a joy, and I'm sure the interface will grow on one. But my immediate feeling is it's become more of a bother, this far. |

| 55469 | 2002-06-20 11:48:00 | Pity you feel that way Hotdog. The beta test group busted their guts to make it as user friendly as possible, and firewall problems are a once only. I had them too, but all they did was stop the emoticon & formatting options. Why not post the specifics of your firewall problem so that the team at IDG can look into them if necessary? The site will be under ongoing developmental review for a while yet as we are bound to have missed something. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 55470 | 2002-06-20 11:55:00 | Thanks Billy - however I can sort the settings out, it's just a bother, as well as having to remember to enable java, cookies etc, and logging in is a nuisance too, specially as I can't tab from username to password. Nevermind, I'll survive :) | Hotdog (458) | ||
| 55471 | 2002-06-20 22:42:00 | I was a beta tester as well and had to tweak my Outpost firewall and adblocker in order to use Press F1 smoothly. Once that was been done I've had no problems. I normally only allow per-session cookies but the Outpost and adblocker settings can be changed to permit certain specified sites to set permanent cookies, which is what I did. This means other sites are still restricted during my browsing. If your programs aren't that customisable maybe you should be looking at others that are? Just a suggestion :-) As far as logging on is concerned, if you've got the Press F1 cookie you should only ever have to do that once. That alone makes it worthwhile spending time getting the settings right. |
