| 55970 | 2002-06-21 14:54:00 | I am going round and round in circles here, with something that should be really, really simple! How do I safely delete temporary files? Also, if I go: Start > Run > C:\_RESTORE\TEMP\ can I delete the entire folder, and are all temp files on computer (internet and mail included) stored in here. Regards, BALDY |

To do this, Right click on My Computer > select Properties > Performance > File System > Trouble Shooting. Check the Disable System Restore box and OK out of there. Restart computer. All RESTORE points will be gone as well as all the files. To re-enable then simply follow instructions above and uncheck Disable System Restore. The other TEMP files will be in the Windows Explorer folder. Navigate to C: > WINDOWS > TEMP and or Temporary Internet Files. You can delete files from there. IF the file you want is specific to a Program then navigate to Program Files and locate the Program you want and see if they have a TEMP folder there. Good Luck sam m ps I am doing this from work and memory so apologies if my instructions are a little out. If this is the case then go to Symantec (http://www.symantec.com) and follow Service & Support links. |

| 55975 | 2002-06-21 23:47:00 | The best way to delete all temp files is to go to command promp by pressing F8 on PC restart until you get C:\ then go \WINDOWS\SMARTDRV (this makes it work faster) Then CD WINDOWS then DELTREE/Y TEMP (Enter) There is a space after the Y This will delete all temp files Ctrl Alt Delete to restart Regards Trev |
