| 55918 | 2002-06-21 10:07:00 | I'm setting up a Laptop in NZ for my sister in Oz. Shes using Bigpond and a bit of a Newbie, so all setup has to be done here before posting away. Has anybody attempted this, or perhaps commutes to Aust to connect a laptop there. Thanks for any advice.....John. |

Where as your scenario is different as you would just add your new connection, which presumably she already has with bigpond, so it would be relatively easy in theory - if she already has her isp (bigpond) and e-mail addy you will just be able to add it as a new connection, might take a call to them for the settings just to be sure but that should be easy i think - if she has the connection already. Remember you can have more than one dial up connection too. If you have any probs with the settings i have a rellie with bigpond so she could relay them to me for you - no probs so don't hesitate to get back to me. |

For instance you cant connect to Xtra supernumber from overseas, and they wont give out the numbers behind it (yes, I know you can use a global roaming solution) and you also can't hard divert a phone to Xtra and call it instead, doesn't work. Big Pond may be similar. |

By the way, to test the settings in the dialer etc, has anyone tried making a Toll Call to Aust with Bigpond and checking to see it works. Im wondering if there may be some kind of block to stop thos occurring. Thanks to all who replied. John..... |
