| 55907 | 2002-06-21 09:08:00 | We have a 3 button Unirom mouse that has beome almost unusable. The mouse properties in Control Panel says Standard Serial Mouse. I bought a new mouse from Warehouse stationery that says it is IBM compatable but it is 2 button. It is PS2 and I have a serial adaptor for it. When I plug it in and restart the puter (486dx50 20mb Ram w95) the new mouse doesn't work. Do I need new drivers and if so can somebody help me step by step to install them? Many thanks in advance. BTW I tried the screen fix that Heather and somebody suggested a while ago andd it worked. |

Try Right Clicking My Computer goto properties and see your mouse settings. It should be set to the standard ps/2 mouse configuration. Then when that is set, then reboot your computer with the mouse attached. As for drivers needed for your one there is none available for that specific model as i gather the one you bought was a generic brand. How do i know? Because i use to work at Warehouse Stationary as the "Computer Specialist" Go figure~~ |

| 55909 | 2002-06-22 03:39:00 | Chris After several less than satisfactory experiences with "warehouse grade" mice on my children's computers, I have learned that it is better to pay just a few dollars more and get a name brand . Generic mice sometimes work ok but they don't last . Somebody posted a few days ago in response to a different mouse problem and said they regared mice as disposables, wearing out one every twelve months or so . I've got 5 years of virtually 12/7 use up on my own Logitec Mouseman, the coating on the buttons is worn down to base plastic and it is still going strong . My advice is to go buy a decent mouse that comes with its own drivers and you will not be sorry . Cheers Billy 8-{) |

And to make matters worse when I clicked on the Back button all my carefully thought-out prose had gone! Oh no, don't let this ship die!! |
