2002-06-22 13:30:00 | >1 Have you tried waiting a tick before refreshing - > sometimes the page says it has finished when it > hasn't really. I've found IE does this on several > sites at times. You wait a second or two and the page > does turn up. Bruce in a couple of instances it did come through - but probably 98% easy it was just not going any further - page done - and i gave it plenty of time just in case, so i think its the latter most times - i experimented by making a coffee and still no go - so i guess that says it all eh! Hope that helps - i use win xp home and i.e 6 if that makes any diff. Still love the new site though!!! :) ;-)

2002-06-23 00:29:00 | OK Bruce, Trying this again, I open Press F1, on Jun 23, 2002 10:30 AM and am on a page that I assume is page 1, but the first public post is jun, 2002 8:41 PM. At the top of page under PRESS F1 is "Welcome, merlin-nz. Leave a message about your hardware, software or internet problem, and our server will automatically email you when one of our advisors, or another reader, answers your query " :D So one would assume one is logged in. right (No ) Click on "MY WATCHES" there are two there and wish to delete them, so tick the boxes and get "Apache Tomcat/4.0.3 - HTTPStatus 500 - Internal Server Error" Press my Browers Back button to return to previous screen. Back to the first page where I first came in. At the top of the screen is "My Settings-My Watches-Log Out- Post new Topic- Search-Help", I now have guessed seeing as there is no "Log In box" I am in wrong screen. I clicked on the subject "OK post any PressF1 probs bugs here please" Tried this the other day and the post seemed to tack on the bottom of the other posts, but now it's not there. (have since figuered it out:8} If I click on page 2 I'm a guest, press browsers back button and back to merlin-nz. Hang on when in page 2 and guest at top of page, it then has a box Login/Register. OK that worked, Seems to work now.:8}:8} So I have to get to a screen that has a Login/Register box, hmmm. ;\ Still can't delete my watches.:8} again. OK now I get it you can only delete one watch at a time. 1 hour later try replying and if works good if not sh*t again.

2002-06-23 01:14:00 | Susan, I think the reason I was having trouble is due to the pressf1/candy debarcle. Because the url changes sometimes, my links don't always show up as visited. Once they solve this prob, I think I will agree with you that the system is in fact better. G P

2002-06-23 02:38:00 | Hi, I am not sure where this problem fits in. I use Opera. When I was on the test group I never noticed this. (admittedly I didn't post that many, mainly because I was out of my depths when some of you brain boxes start talking) Anyway, now when using Opera I write message, I go to preview, I go back to writing message but the font has changed?? It does not cause any problems (although I have had the 'null' message before) but I was curious whether this was an issue with the service or with my computer. I used IE when I first saw it and I never saw the fonts change there. Any ideas ps has anyone used spell check with with the word "IE" Interesting what the first replacement for IE is.

2002-06-23 04:15:00 | Got a much better one. Hit "My Watches", got: Apache Tomcat/4.03 - HTTP Status 500 Internal Server Error Sorry, can't post the page of trail info ... first line is java.lang.NullPointerException ... WatchManagerProxy:214, then the rest is pretty well what we get from the Spell Check. I thought I had the "auto logout" sussed as being local to a thread in which I do a Post. But, posted in a thread, (became Guest) went up to the Home page and stopped being Guest, went to "My Watch", got the error. Then when I came to this thread and clicked Reply, got the Login page.

2002-06-23 04:43:00 | And a bit later, "My Watch" worked OK. Could it be that the database has record lock out enabled (of course) and the java code which produces the HTML can't cope with being locked out? Maybe it just throws a tantrum and spits the dummy. That's AI for you, behaves just like people. ;-) | Graham L (2) | |

2002-06-23 09:29:00 | How can I be logged in as "yetti" click on " Welcome, yetti" see the settings all ok. But have welcome, Guest at top of screen. Then click on the subject "OK post any PressF1 probs here please" and hell I'm a guest again. Yep you guessed it had to log on again. ?:|

2002-06-23 09:47:00 | From last post logged off from "yetti" and "merlin-nz" appeared, (ok I'm testing a differant name here). :D Clicked on My Watches as "merlin-nz" and "yetti" watches appeared. now totally ?:| Now it wouldn't have anything to do with cookies by any chance, because I deleted all mine to get away from "merlin-nz" always starting when I first get to the forum. And it was the only way it worked, but still having trouble with logging on and after I have logged on I'm a guest again, somtimes for three or five tries.
