I think some of the problems may be peculiar to particular computer/application configurations, while others are just the inevitable discovery of residual bugs. Hell, it works far better than V1 ever did and there's only been one double post :8}. Reflecting on the beta testing, although we gave it a hammering, it is possible that the team were working with slightly better than average set-ups and had configured much along the lines that your programmers were thinking. Turning it loose on the great unwashed (no offence intended, just a turn of phrase) with all the problems that Press F1 is here to resolve was bound to throw up some purlers. Take heart Billy 8-{) :x hhh for the new Press F1 (Bugger! Wouldn't you know it, got a null when I tried to post. Hubris!) |

2002-06-22 08:45:00 | After posting got the blank page and when trying to post this got the blank page when previewing - eventually after several refreshes i got the preview Have you tried waiting a tick before refreshing - sometimes the page says it has finished when it hasn't really. I've found IE does this on several sites at times. You wait a second or two and the page does turn up. I'd like to establish if this is the case here because there is a big difference between a glitch like this (which can be a browser glitch) and the page not actually being served at all, which is a different kettle of fish. We need to know conclusively if it is the latter. The posts getting mixed up in the wrong thread problem is weird. If anyone else sees it happening on threads other than the ones already mentioned here can they please post the thread URLs concerned.

2002-06-22 08:53:00 | Reflecting on the beta testing, although we gave it a hammering, it is possible that the team were working with slightly better than average set-ups and had configured much along the lines that your programmers were thinking. It's inevitable - even with our group of beta testers we were still limited to a comparative handful of setups. It is just the infinite variety of PC setups that is to blame. But hey, I'd rather have that than Macs any day ... (ducks for cover in case lone Mac crazy hurls abuse...) Still, There a few weird things happening we need to track down and hopefully we'll be able to either resolve them or come up with some recommended work-arounds if they are related to security settings or firewalls.

2002-06-22 09:07:00 | Not a bug, but are the threads listed in order of the most recent replies. ie If I reply to a thread from two weeks ago, is it brought to the top of the list? If yes, why - this makes no sense. Threads should be listed in order of original post. how else can I see which posts I haven't read yet (Don't say they are marked with a red dot, because if I come here, don't read all new posts, leave, and then come back, the unread posts lose their dots unless someone has contributed to the thread). I am struggling with the posts constantly changing order, It is making me mad, and I know I am definitely missing some. G P

2002-06-22 09:28:00 | Graham, I think that the way posts jump to the top of the queue when a reply is made is marvellous. No more missing out on Hot Topics that you didn't request a watch on! If you are interested in certain posts that you haven't made a contribution to you can click on the Watch Options at the top of that post to enable it to be in your Watches. This means that you can opt to get notified by email whenever a thread gets new replies. You won't miss any then. The threads you haven't yet read are coloured purple (or is it blue?) just like on the old forum. The red dots are merely the posts you have read previously and had new replies added since the last time you visited the Home page.

2002-06-22 10:45:00 | Used the spell checker and lost the post. Worked the other day. And when posting the above it ended up on another thread. Around 90% certain I posted in the right place.

2002-06-22 11:58:00 | OK, Mike and I have discovered that if we have our view settings on Thread View our locations remain on old settings . For instance I used to be at Thunderdome and changed it to The Freezer . In Thread View I still see Thunderdome but in Flat View it's The Freezer . Also, the location of non-beta Candy testers is not displayed in Thread View . It's driving Mike nuts LOL :D
