Ummm - but there is.

Example 1, Messages per Topic Listing = 15:
Page links home page (idg.net.nz)

Example 2, Messages per Topic Listing = 100:
Page links home page (idg.net.nz)

My settings: Bruce's settings (idg.net.nz)

I always run in flat mode, and because I'm sitting right here I have both Topics per page and Messages per topic listing set to 100. On a dial up you'd likely want it set to less. I just click on the last page link, then either scroll to the bottom of the page or click on the last posted link in the threadmap at the top of the page. No need to scoll through multiple pages.

56253 2002-08-30 00:50:00 Jen C,
....about your suggestion a couple of posts above
I beg to differ.. the bringing up of an old thread to the front is downright handy, and keeps repetition down a wee bit. Heres an personal example of how i use it to keep things relevant & tidy.

I'm learning Linux, I'm finding it a bit of a learning curve, as i did with 'doze, so doing it in wee stages. When I have the time to have a serious look with out being in my usual state of being psysicly and emotionally exausted (don't ask) i bring This thread (pressf1.co.nz) back from the dead. In a week or 2 i hopefully will have another go.

This to me makes a lot more sense than starting a new one every time i'm stuck. All the old stuff about the set up, what has been tried, what failed, what i didn't get, what i now understand, is all there. If i started a new post each time there would be a lot of time waisted reinventing the wheel not only by myself, but by those who have helped me.

Of course any lurker wishing to find out about setting up a linux/98 network will gain alot more form this thread than having each stage of Q & A split between several threads.

56254 2002-08-30 00:53:00 What Lai Ping is currently working on implementing is a flag that will pop up a warning message when someone goes to post to an old thread (1 month old). It won't stop you posting, merely point out that the thread is old and ask you whether you really do want to post a reply. Biggles (121)
56255 2002-08-30 01:05:00 Nice one Bruce!
So we get a compromise between both schools of thought, fresh horse AND following a thread through irrespective of age......

Hoorah to Lai Ping

56257 2002-08-30 04:57:00 I just got an error message and it's persistant, not letting me post, I've saved it to a txt file, what should I do (Post a NEW thread I mean)

Cheers
