2002-06-22 18:53:00 | Morning Jack - early riser too - on a Sunday - Anyway thanks for your reply - I have been with Paradise for many years now and there is a problem out there - With todays Technoligy, the ISP's should be able to handle the traffic. If we get accepted to the ISP we should get a good service - we are paying for it. I am thinkin of changing my ISP also ( but who is a good one ) | Laurie (485) | |
2002-06-22 19:05:00 | Yes I get up at 4-30 every morning. Can't sleep after that. Anyway I changed to IPRONET. Got an invite with my power bill. Don't know who they are or even where they are based, but they are good. Like Paradise used to be. Also I've got rid of the Spam as well. Wonder how long before they catch up with me. Jack

2002-06-22 22:27:00 | I think the problem is that every 2nd home now has a computer on the net & some homes have 2 lines as well & telecoms Antique phone lines can't handle the extra load, every thing come to a grinding halt. It would be like putting an extra 20,000 cars on the motorway in the morning, imagine how that would slow things down. I also believe that people who have telstra-saturn-clear as there telephone provider are getting reasonable speed on the net.perhaps someone can confirm this?? cheers Steve

2002-06-23 03:03:00 | Thanks, I have a list of all the ISPs. When I hooked up with paradise I believed it to be the best by what I had read, it was ok to begin with but now has to be one of the worst. I don't want to wind up with another useless one.

2002-06-23 03:06:00 | I'm down in Nelson and I think it is getting better. :) For the last week I have been able to connect to Paradise first pop, and the speed has been good. depending on what time I connect of course. Of course a month ago paradise was crap. X-( With being disconnected for no reason, and finding it very hard to connect. and then when I did it was slow. Oh well. You have to take the good with the bad I suppose. :|

2002-06-23 07:19:00 | It is not unusal for all ISP's to go through this problem at some stage. This is usually because their customer base grows faster than they can support. However I have notice that paradise seems to be having a lot of problems lately and it seems very coincidental that they have also just been taken over by telstra clear. I'm just happy that I connect at the moment. For a period of time a couple of weeks ago I couldn't even connect because the server wouldn't verify my username and password.
