56202 2002-07-25 07:34:00 i just realise i'm being a retard....
it's actually "click here to turn the thread map off" isn't it? whereas i was interpretting it as "the thread map is off"....
is my hold on the english language slipping?
and i was doing such a good job of disguising my half-wittedness until now...

56203 2002-07-26 12:12:00 Is it at all possible to have it so that the cookie works on the individual threads as opposed to the whole page.

Also it would be nice if the tracking as to what threads we have read was done on the server as opposed to via a cookie on our computer.

When at college and I quickly check the forums and post a reply. Of course once I get home the new posts are those since I last exited the forums. Even though I only read one thread.

56204 2002-07-27 01:02:00 There appears to be a blank topic, thus (www.something.net.nz)
I cant describe what i mean well, it's too early in the morning. Its glaringly obvious if you look @ the link.

56205 2002-07-27 04:57:00 Mike started it. He was busy finding holes in the system. Rest assured it was done deliberately. Take 3 coffees then have a look (can get into it by going to next topic then pressing link for previous topic) Heather P (163)
56206 2002-07-31 10:36:00 I have requested a "Watch Topic" on several threads that I haven't contributed to but never received email notifications when new posts were added .

Now I know why - looking in "My Watches" those threads weren't marked to have email notifications .

The option in my settings to receive notifications is enabled and I would have thought that these threads would have automatically been included .

It must be a bug! (You haven't had any bugs for a-a-a-ages now) .

56207 2002-08-01 10:24:00 Hey! Those blimmin HP Flash ads killed my Java! X-(

PI 266 / 32Mb / 4Gb / crawling laptop / opera 6.04 / java 1.3.1

Friggin HP ... they make crap computers and now they are trying to kill everyone elses by making crap ads!

Ok, ignore that last statement.

Well, the ads crashed my Java, which in turn crashed Opera.

I figure this because 1- Only sites with these HP ads crashed Opera, and 2- After reinstalling Opera and Java (I had to!) and disabling Java within Opera, it now runs fine. Re-enabling Java stuffs everything up again.

Incidentally, Press F1 runs fine without Java... :D

56208 2002-08-04 02:21:00 I'm getting the same problem that was earlier noted with the combination of Win98, Opera 6.03, and the new java based HP add on the top.
In essence since that ad went up the top, there have been 3 occasions where i have gone to PressF1 and watched my darling computer freeze completely.
I am currently d/loading opera6.04, and hope that that will remove this bug.

56209 2002-08-04 02:35:00 And just after posting the last moan, the same ad wanted to place itself in the taskbar, in the ad built into opera, and then all around behind the ad in the free version of opera, it was almost like a skin for the browser.
Most annoying thig was then endless loop of blue screen errors, and me escaping them by putting a pecil into the hole where my reset button hides....... i hate doing that!
anyway, i aint spellchecking this, till i get opera6.04 in, im out of here....

have another go in 10!

56210 2002-08-04 08:36:00 It's got something to do with Java, and 6.04 won't make any improvement.

You can fix this though by going pressing <alt>-P, multimedia, and take the tick out of Enable Java.

It has worked fine since.

56211 2002-08-04 23:25:00 We are attempting to exclude the ad from being seen on Opera browsers via the DC system. it will take a couple of hours for the chnage to roll through, but hopefully Opera users shouldn't see it by this afternoon. Biggles (121)
