It has to be some setting in the broswer, and/or a third-party app you've got running. Can I suggest you do a right back to basics bootup - after boot-up unload any net-related tools - zonealarm, web washer, cookie crusher - anything like that. Just make sure you've got only the browser loaded. Set security and privacy settings to either the default setting or low. The idea is to make your current state as plain vanilla as possible. Then try it. Thta at least will establish if it is something else that is being loaded or browser settings that is causing the problem. |

2002-07-16 04:48:00 | Come to think of it I only have AVG and ZoneAlarm, tried it with ZA off and can't imagine it's AVG because happened before with Norton. Security setting for Opera is enable all cookies, but....hah! Just changed to 'accept pop-ups' now let's see..... | mark c (247) | |
2002-07-16 04:52:00 | Strike a light in the bleeding darkness! Didn't work either. If it's just me Bruce, don't worry about it unless you're determined to track the bug down and as you say maybe some setting of mine anyway so I'll keep fiddling. Hope I've been of some help. let you know later if it still happens. Flunked an exam once with .0001 % of the code wrong and the whole darn thing didn't 'work' because of it, tiny little 'flag reset'. Cheers for now, gotta go............:) | mark c (247) | |
2002-07-16 04:53:00 | ....and that worked fine. | mark c (247) | |
2002-07-16 04:54:00 | Went back to 'refuse pop-ups' and that did too. Gotta go, God these things are addictive................ | mark c (247) | |
2002-07-16 04:57:00 | It's pissing me off, I gotta say. It seems like it is just you but I'm sure it's a combo of things that can and will be replicated by someone else eventually. So I'd like to know the answer. Either that or have the pleasure of taking 12-gauge to your PC. Or maybe some C4. Film the explosion with a high-speed camera so I an play it back in slo-mo ... yeah oooh yeah ... (Bruce wanders off to play Day of Defeat .....) | Biggles (121) | |
2002-07-16 08:34:00 | Geez you're violent Bruce! :D Mark, when you disable zonealarm, trying disabling it from starting up at bootup then reboot your machine. I have found in the past that disabling it and carrying on had no effect. It needs to have the startup disabled before you reboot so that it doesn't go and load itself again when you reboot, if you can understand what I'm saying.
