56172 2002-07-15 20:32:00 I just clicked on the link in an email that there was a reply to my post from yesterday, and guess what, I had to scrole past 148 other posts; ones that had nothing to do with the subject of mine! How is that better than the old system that took me directly to the reply? When I click on the down arrow at the bottob of the scrole bar the screen slides by so fast that everything is a blur, so I have to click and stop, click and stop all the way so I know when I get there. I dont call that better. This system may please ego maniacs who are here to tell us how wonderful they think they are, but it does nothing to smooth the way for people with genuine tecnical questions. MORE INPUT EQUALS AN INFERIOR SETUP!! Simplicity breeds progress. Vince (406)
56173 2002-07-15 20:44:00 What does "Logon automatically" mean? I have ticked the box several times now with no effect; I still have to type my user name and password each time I come to this site. Vince (406)

The speed of scrolling has nothing to do with us . Period . That's your browser .

This thread is the longest one here - scrolling past 148 posts is not the norm . I have my view settings set to flat-mode . In that mode the page gets chunked, so I see 4 pages in this thread . When I clicked on the email alerting me to a new post here it brought me to page 4, with just 2 posts listed (because the email link includes the message ID) . Clicking an an email link to an earlier post brings me to page 3 instead . If you switch to flat-mode and set you threads per page to 50 or 30, you shouldn't get that problem . And if you have the thread-map on, why not just click on the link to the relevant post and be taken to that point on the page, rather than scroll all the way down to it? That's what the thread map is for, after all . I suggest to experiment with the different view options .

As for auto-login not working, if you are clearing your cookies after each session then it won't work, because you will be deleting the PressF1 cookie that is used to auto-log you in . If you are using IE 6 you can adjust the privacy options on a per site basis to allow PressF1 cookies . 56175 2002-07-15 22:58:00 Dont worry Vince,
I also reported a couple of bugs, and then realised that the problem exsists mainly in front of the monitor, and above the keyboard ;-)

> after you post?

No, I figured that by trial and error . I go to "Home" because there I'll also see the post . :) 2 y'all .

56177 2002-07-16 03:48:00 This is a post in IE 6 with medium security to see if I get logged out after posting. mark c (247)
56178 2002-07-16 03:52:00 ....and I'm sorry to say I did. Get logged out. Tch. Wish I could be more help. You want someone to do some exercises, give me a call. Now I'm back to the Opera.......... mark c (247)
56179 2002-07-16 04:02:00 There's got to be something else we're missing here Mark. Not being able to log-in automatically is cause the cookie isn't set - but being able to post, and then logged out afterwards seems like a different problem.

Mark, can you email me your password so I can try doing this as you from my PC?

If I read it right you've now tried Opera and IE 6 and get the same thing - right? And you've tried with any firewallls/cookie crushing programs (not just waht is in the browser, but anything else you may have installed) turned off?

56180 2002-07-16 04:06:00 Ok here's a post with ZoneAlarm turned off. mark c (247)
56181 2002-07-16 04:09:00 .....and I get logged out. Will do the password option. Risky but, then you're head and shoulders above the rest. mark c (247)
