Have a colleagues PCCompany Duron 500/WinME. It got Nimba and I organised for him to run the Fix Nimba solution from Symantec. Seemed to be successful. Went good for a day but then kept on freezing. Have gone through the 4 categories of restore provided on the emergency disc to no avail. Also the cdrom is only intemittently recognised by bios at boot. About 50% time no cdrom. One of the initial symptoms was flickering cdrom led accompanied by freeze/unfreeze desktop. I am assuming it is a faulty cdrom. Could it be anything else? Advice appreciated. regards
