56687 2002-06-23 04:09:00 Hello all

I recently set up a new Dialup Networking on my computer and now every time I login to my ISP it will verify my username and password twice and take ages to go through. It did not do this before. I am wondering if there is a setting somewhere that I may have not set properly.

Any help would be appreciated.

56688 2002-06-23 04:43:00 To reduce the time windows takes to verify your ISP username and password, open the dial up networking folder in "My Computer", right click your connection and select properties, go to the server types page and under advanced options uncheck the box to logon to network. Click ok to exit. Next time you connect to your ISP it should only take a couple of seconds. Tristan Speak (465)

56690 2002-06-23 07:49:00 I'm glad it worked for you Banzai.

It seems unusal that this is the default setting for new connections when most users would be better off with the Log on to network option disabled.

Guess that's just Microsoft logic for you.

yeah, like having Safe Mode recommended for maintenance and having it as 'difficult' to access as BIOS.

If you had Logon to Network ticked you might want to check that NetBeui and IPX on the same page are also unticked. These are ticked by default also.
