| 56671 | 2002-06-23 03:26:00 | Outlook Express includes the message rule actions 'Do not Download it from the server' and 'Delete it from the server'. It seems that if one of these actions is selected, no other action can be used in the same message rule. For incoming e-mail matching predefined criteria, I want to prevent the download of such e-mail and also be deleted from the server. To do these functions, would I need to set up two message rules (one for each action) or would one of these actions perform both functions? Also, can a rule be defined using the rules wizard in Microsoft Outlook to perform the same actions in Outlook Express, particularly preventing the download of e-mail, or is all e-mail downloaded irrespective when sending / receiving in Microsoft Outlook? |

| 56672 | 2002-06-23 04:06:00 | Hi Gavin Depending on your setup/options with your ISP. You can delete the mail from the POP3 mail server or create 2 seperate rules. Sorry, don't use Outlook but think you'll need to create rules for each app. HTH Murray P |

| 56674 | 2002-06-23 06:21:00 | I don't think that using those two message rules would be necessary as they kind of contradict each other if you use them in the same message rule. If you don't want to download certain messages and never want to see them then just use the delete from server rule. If you think there might be some messages you would wish to see or check then you could use the rule to don't download them. Then you could also have your settings leave all mail on the server for one or two days so that you can check what is there using webmail, if your ISP has that feature. Sing out if you need more help with this. :-) PS You cannot set rules in Outlook to use with OE. They are two different programs. |
