57143 2002-06-25 06:50:00 I used to be able to open a .jpg saved on my C drive (the image would open with IE), and right-click on it to "set as wallpaper". This option vanished after Windows 95 was reloaded onto my work PC. You can't browse for the image as wallpaper under "Display Properties - Background" as the only type of file it looks for is a .bmp. All my images automatically open with PhotoEditor but there is no option for setting as wallpaper here either.

I have a really nice collection of pictures for my work PC and I am distraught at only having to look at boring Microsoft wallpaper choices. Does any one know how to change the settings back to how it used to be?

Much appreciated :8}

57144 2002-06-25 06:57:00 I believe Windows 95 only came with IE 3. I know the later versions of IE were integrated quite tightly in to the operating system and usually gave Windows new features. Try upgrading your version of IE to a newer version, this might restore that feature. Tristan Speak (465)
57145 2002-06-25 07:13:00 Thanks for the quick reply Tristan. I am using IE5 at work and the OS hasn't changed, only the option to save non-web based images as wallpaper. My work PC cannot be upgraded because it belongs in the dark ages and will not cope with WinNT! Perhaps if I can change the "Open with" on the jpgs from PhotoEditor to IE I might be able to set as wallpaper again. (PS* I have tried to change the "Open with" program for the jpgs and wasn't given the option of changing it to anything else). Is this barking up the wrong tree? Jen C (20)
