Sam,

I buy almost all my new computer gear from Tauranga Computers. Why? because they're cheap, and I don't generally need service. If you're wanting service, go elsewhere; their personal service sucks (much stronger wording left out here to keep this forum G rated).

But as I say, they're cheap, because they generally sell the cheapest products on the market. I don't know if I'd buy a system from them (probably not), but the odd part that you don't want after-sale service for, they're pretty good.

Hope this makes sense for you.

Mike.

57097 2002-06-25 09:52:00 I've tried to do business with them too but found it hopeless.

Maybe if you go there, find what you want, put the money in the till and pray like hell you don't need to enter into any dialog with anyone, you could become a satisfied customer?

Good Luck

57099 2002-06-25 10:17:00 Thanks for the reply guys, I'm thinking about getting a system from them though. Mainly because their cheap. The one I'm thinking about getting is there current Athlon XP 1800 which features not the newest parts but still some good stuff.
Athlon XP 1800
256Mb DDR Ram (not sure what brand)
40 gig ATA HD (probably upgrade to 60 gig)
32mb geforce 2 (defiantly upgrade to 64mb gefroce 2 mx400)
works suit, printer
etc

I think I should be able to handle most problems myself except for problems to do with hardware faults etc.

I might wait another couple of weeks though and see what other deals they come up with.

57101 2002-06-25 10:31:00 Sorry Tweake I did actually mean to put that in my last post that I would be checking that out. Sam H (525)
57102 2002-06-25 11:46:00 Hello Sam,

They will probably be using the MSI 6390 DDR, KT266A motherboard, if so
you should have no problems as they are not a bad motherboard, not the best but a long way from the worst.

I think they normally build their systems from whatever is the cheapest components they have in stock at the time, but bear in mind that cheapest does not always mean worst, and this policy would probably be the same with most OEM builders.

Try and get a component specification before you finalise the order.

looking at their components in general, they are no different to most other online stores, you make your choice from cheap and nasty, cheap and good, all the way to dear and nasty and dear and good.
