57043 2002-06-24 23:38:00 Hi, Second post in this vein. I am using I.E6 and for some reason it will not access any secure site. Whenever the address bar starts with 'https' the browser comes up saying cannot access page. Security is on medium I used to use medium high, this has not helped. Any suggestions? Thanks grg58 grg58 (617)
57044 2002-06-24 23:51:00 all https: sites I access, I have downloaded security certificates from the site owner first. This is for access control as well.

Do you have permission to gain access to this site? if so download the certificate from their Cert Server, you will need the url and port number from them....

57045 2002-06-25 09:36:00 Thanks godfather for your reply. I am not sure this is the problem. The sites I am trying to access are my internet banking site and to purchase from previously used sites on line. With I.E5 therewas no problem I did not have to download any certs for access. I simply installed I.E6 and nolonger could access these sites. Is there some preset security option I need to change? I am at a loss and becoming frustrated. Appreciate any help. grg58 (617)
57046 2002-06-25 09:55:00 Hi grg58,

Have you tried this: Tools, Internet Options, click on Advanced tab, click on Restore Defaults. Maybe that will do the trick.

Cheers,
Rod.

57047 2002-06-25 10:03:00 Just thought of something else too. Check Tools, Internet Options, Privacy tab. My IE6 is set to medium (there is a Default button there too) and I have also added some sites I trust using the Web Sites, Edit button. Maybe you've tried this and my previous suggestion, I don't know. Have you made updated/replaced any firewall or anti-virus software? That could block access to certain sites too.

Hope this helps,
Rod.

57048 2002-06-25 11:27:00 Try the security settings first (I thought you probably would have done that anyway) but with internet banking many sites require you to download a program first, which I believe contains the digital certificates. This happens in the initial logon process.

If you have upgraded to IE6 you may have zapped the cert. I know it deleted mine for secure site I access when I upgraded, even though it kept the links

Having said that all my banks have upgraded so unsure if they are still using the certs.
