| 57402 | 2002-06-26 05:04:00 | I'm setting up some XP Pro computers for remote offices to work in a workgroup, I'm using the image of them as part of the domain and just changing them to a workgroup of the same name. However when I browse to them across the workgroup to view a shared folder I get asked for a username and password. I'm asked for this when accessing the computer so I haven't even seen what folders are shared yet. no I've been over and over simply sharing, having it removing it, permissions on the folders, shares... If I format the hard drive and just setup from scratch it works the way it should. any ideas what could cause an XP Pro machine to ask for a username and password to see it's shared folders? it seems to want me to log on to it before it will show me it's shared folders Trying to avoid redoing image Graeme |

For each PC, because there is no server, you have to type in a username and password for all the people that you want to use the workgroup. Do this at each PC - usernames and passwords must all match. For this reason - you want to set password to never expire and can not be changed. |
