| 57396 | 2002-06-26 03:01:00 | I've got a computer running XP with 2 hard drives, "C" and "E". I physically removed "C" and replaced it with another blank "C" drive. (Just a straight forward unplug the IDE & power cables, and plug into the new one). I installed Win200 onto it. The new installation recognises "C" drive (naturally), but can't see or read "E" drive. In the "Devices" part of Control Panel it recognises that there are 2 hard drives, and reports no problems, but I can't read or write or "see" the other drive. Anybody know what I have to do to see my "E" drive? (Possibly relevant, possibly not, is that drives "D" and "F" are CDs, and can be seen under both XP and W2K. The "missing" drive "E" also has a Linux partition from a so far unsuccessful attempt to explore the mysteries (joys?) of Linux) |

| 57398 | 2002-06-26 06:57:00 | Yeah, I wondered about the Linux partition. However, another computer on the network runs Win2k, and it DOES recognise the "E" drive quite happily on the problem computer via the network. It doesn't see the Linux partition - which is to be expected. So, Win2k recognises an XP partition (actually NTFS) on a DIFFERENT computer, but not when that same partition is on a hard drive on the SAME computer. And that's my problem... > If the "E" drive has only the Linux partition, it > won't be recognised. If it had an XP partition, > perhaps W2000 can't handle it. What does FDISK > /STATUS say?
