57179 2002-06-25 10:05:00 Hi I am looking at getting a Gforce4 soon and was unsure if first, it would fit in my AGP slot. Currently I have a NVIDIA 8mb Vanta (AGP).

And second would it work. (I know it won’t be as fast as a new AGP slot.)

I think my AGP slot is 2x.

Thanks.
Thelaw.

57180 2002-06-25 23:28:00 Hi thelaw,

Sorry I can't help with your question but I do have a little tip for you.

It is better to put a more meaningful word or two than "Question" in the header to attract people with the knowledge to help. A lot of people only have time to scan for possible questions to answer and won't bother to look at a post labelled "Question".

If you had put something like "Gforce4 update query" then I know of several people who would in all probability have an answer for you.

Try again if you don't get results this time. :-)

57181 2002-06-25 23:38:00 As far as I'm aware, AGP cards are backwards compatible - ie, a 4x AGP card will work in a 2x slot. See if you can find anything in your motherboard manual on the specs of it and on the net for the specs of the GeForce 4 you're looking at.

You shouldn't have a problem, though.
