| 57773 | 2002-06-27 10:49:00 | Last night I entered "Emoticons" into Google Search. Sheesh. There were over 350,000 sites. I looked at the first 100 for a downloadable program to load into my XP. All the ones I saw were "explanations" of what Emoticons were etc. So my question is :- Does anyone know of a download site to get Emoticons into my E-mails & Word, resident in the system. That is the yellow icon/faces not the keystrokes. Q2 :- Is it possible to make the Icon/yellow face larger? Thanks Poppa John (again) ?:| | Poppa John (284) | ||

If you are thinking about inserting the punctuation in your word/email documents, then any software that "converts" it at your end would need to be also installed at the recipients end. An unlikely event. You would have to find some individual graphic images (.jpg, .gif etc) of emoticons, then you could resize them to you liking (in a document/email, but not on this forum as you cannot insert graphics) If you have a look at Word, and particularly the WingDing font, WebDing font etc there are many such things anyway. Again remember the recipient must have those fonts installed (and Word) to view them. |

If it already hasn't been done I am sure one of the young geniuses out there will write up a programme to make it possible. Maybe I should suggest it to MS to be included in XP Version 2. Re para4, I have been caught with Installed/not installed Fonts already. I am the only one with XP (in NZ) whilst everyone I correspond with overseas is on W98. It seems if I use a font on XP which is not on W98, type into Word 2000 & e-mail as an attachment, they cannot open it. Any validity in that statement, anybody?? Poppa John. :-) | Poppa John (284) | ||
| 57776 | 2002-06-27 11:43:00 | It may be more that if you use a common windows font in the word document then it may be readable as a text document (in that its sent as an "inline" document and not attached), as they may not have Word? If you use a non standard font, its essentially a graphics conversion that they cannot do? Grasping at straws, but given that I have just paid $600 for Word/Excel/PowerPoint its often a lot more than non business folks can afford or justify. I have many friends that I know have not got Word, so I never send an attachment, just plain text in the body of an e-mail. When I say plain I dont mean HTML, but plain text as many have HTML switched off. By the way, I never use Microsoft Outlook or Express either, but Eudora. You can set it up as a freebee, you should try it. There is a free Word viewer available from MS. 73s GF |

| 57782 | 2002-06-28 05:44:00 | You won't want the way it is done in this forum. (That's java coding). Here are a couple of places where you can find html code to load .gif files into pages. Get the gif files, and you can get them into Word. itsfree4u.co.uk pages.prodigy.net Searching often gives lots of useless matches. There's often luck invoilved in the choice of search words. I got these first try (in the first few matches) with "emoticons .gif" in google.co.nz . :D [/b] I think I have found a minor bug in PressF1 ... this bold stuff is not supposed to be. |
