57516 2002-06-26 18:30:00 Suddenly, for no apparent reason, I am unable to see files in the right hand pane of Explorer when I select Views: "Details". Files show OK in "List", "small" or "large" icons.

This happened once last year when someone on F1 kindly provided me with a keyboard combination that reset Explorer. I believe that I noted the solution, but cannot now trace it.

I am running Windows 98SE. Grateful for any suggestions.

57517 2002-06-26 19:27:00 Try fooling with Folder Options under the View menu (or Tools, it's in both) and the View Tab.
I've seen it happen but can't remember how to fix it. Try other things under the View menu as well, change the display to icons and back.
It can't get any worse.

57518 2002-06-26 19:42:00 Thanks Robo, I have tried all the obvious things - such as you suggest - but none have any effect. Last time the keyboard combination did work, but the person who suggested it was not sure why.

The trouble is that "Details' is the only view where one can sort by date or file type.

Maybe someone will spot my request later and have the answer. Have email notifications of responses been wiped?

57519 2002-06-26 21:00:00 notification depends on your settings.

How come it says I am from Auckland now when my entry still says Hyperspace?

It's doable, Sami. Maybe close all windows in explorer and reopen. Just fiddle until it relents and returns to normal.

57520 2002-06-26 21:04:00 Hmm, I just fiddled and lost the panel on the left. So I had the details with no folders. Couldn't get it back until I restarted Explorer.
Yuck.

Thanks - I found the settings after I had spoken - and have just received two email relating to your subsequent posts. OK, I'll keep trying, but hope the expert appears today! :)

57522 2002-08-04 17:31:00 When in the details view make sure the detail headers at the top of the window are all expanded by dragging them or double clicking them... maybe they are all collapsed in the same spot....? maxgross (668)
