The point I was making re speed is that 100 may be recognised but not fulfilled.
As in your Ferrari can do 100, but you are always driving in a lane where the rest of the cars travel at 10. How fast are you going?. 100 only when no traffic on the road.

The firewall applies to your network connection, accessed via the local area network icon, right click properties etc, advanced.

Try unplugging all but the XP machines and try the transfer speed?

Of interest though, I had a mix of '95 and XP on this network all 10 mb.
The traffic was very slow, but appears fine now all are XP. I have minimal network traffic so it did not matter, I never worried about it.

XP firewalls were off. I run McAfee antivirus and firewalls anyway, and they did not influence it. Did you say you have no antivirus? No internet connection I hope!!!

I run an ADSL router to connect to Jetsteam, absolutely magic!
