| 57810 | 2002-06-27 12:00:00 | Have you been keeping it up to date with windows update? Does it have all the correct drivers for the peripherals? What is the CPU, how much RAM, is it everytime or just after certain programs have been run? Brand of computer? Is XP an upgrade from another OS? Sorry to give such a barrage of questions but unless the visitors get an isea of the situation they cannot really assist Cheers |

| 57811 | 2002-06-27 12:04:00 | Peter, Intermittently I have heard/seen that happen with XP. I remember reading somewhere that it was one of the problems with XP that the shut down had hassles, but I'm not sure if it has been fixed through upgrade. It hasn't happened to me for ages, and then last week I had it happen again, but since it's very rare for me I haven't worried with it. Perhaps someone knows if there is a patch for it - or maybe it's some other problem. Microsoft tend to be fairly reasonable at providing patches for major problems and I think that one was one they were looking at fixing soon. This Microsoft Knowledgebase Item (support.microsoft.com) may help. HTH Callum |
