57751 2002-06-27 09:58:00 I do to rip a cd song to mp3 format, i then play the mp3 version but their is a lot of static pops and other noises along with the song. I have an old sound card( aztec galaxy washington 16) could this be the problem? I have tried both dBpower AMP music converter and Cdex (as recommended by the good people of press f1) and get the same results, so i'm assuming its something to do with my hardware, is this a correct assumption? 57752 2002-06-27 10:50:00 Are you using Windows Media player to play them?
If so try using winAMP to play them And see if that helps.
Also Try encoding them at at least 192kbs And maybe that might help.

57754 2002-06-27 11:09:00 Most likely cause is from, your cd-rom writing to the hard--disk and the two of them getting out of sync.
Best way to fix it is to go into "device manager" click on your cd-rom, then click on the properties. click on the box that says DMA. then reset your computer. once that is done, rip a cd and see how things go.

p.s. windows will say something about dma not working with all drives, don't worry about that too much.

57755 2002-06-27 11:22:00 What app are you using to rip it? I use Audiograbber to rip cda's into mp3s, Winamp to play mp3s and to encode them to wav form. Easy CD Creator to burn the wavs onto cds in cda form. Works perfectly for me. (win95a p120 80meg Sony120xCdrw) Just dont have any other apps running when yer ripping or burning. ;) |llus|oN (645)
57756 2002-06-28 09:40:00 Hi Ray:
Lots of good advice there, I have tried many, but can thoroughly recommend 'MusicMatch'>>>> it rips, encodes, decodes, burns, and generally manages the music files...never had a failure..

I have had the 'plus' version for a few years, costs a few US$, but well worth it.. Life time upgrades of the software no charge..

yiu can find it here:
