57727 2002-06-27 08:34:00 Its enough to make you weep. Win95 & Win98 Registration Codes for reinstalling say MS Office the Code test size was easy to read. WinXP code on the install disk of Word 2000, and Reg Code on the back of a Laptop was set in 6Pt type. Almost impossible to read. i need a maginifying glass to distinguish 0 from Q, etc...

Are MS doing this to be a right pain in the bum or what. Its not as though there was space restrictions on the rear of the laptop case, or CD label, I cant figure this one out.

I feel like writing to MS in NZ, in the same size type, see if they like it...

57728 2002-06-27 08:39:00 John,

Why don't you wait for Bill to move into his new (soon to be built) house in Nelson and ask him yourself...maybe he'll invite you in for some tea :D

57731 2002-06-28 01:07:00 Dolby,

Well according to a report on the radio yesterday he is - whether it's true or not I guess remains to be seen....

And yeah, it's Bill Gates.

57733 2002-06-28 08:02:00 It's not just MS. Macromedia use 21 characters - without spaces - for their serial numbers. Then hide them in different places - some on the disk, some on a piece of paper, some on the manuals. Then they scatter various other non-serial numbers throughout just to really add confusion. When you finally find a note telling you where to find the number - it's not there cause they changed their system.

Bought a set of programs and, after various abortive attempts, was close to calling their hotline! Finally solved it (with a bit of help from their website). All this to install the programs....
