1305017 2012-10-03 22:56:00 In the middle of last night at 00:14AM. I received a Skype call from (+64221006171). It was automated and kept repeating that it was from someone to do "Skype" or "Internet" quality; I don't remember which because of the hour.

I have blocked it of course, but how can I be charged for an unknown person calling me?
How can I prevent it from happening again?

1305018 2012-10-03 23:12:00 How do you know you have been charged?, i thought call charges are incur from the calleee?, not those receiving the call SolMiester (139)
1305019 2012-10-03 23:14:00 For them to charge you, you would of had to set up a Skype account. Have you done this ?

1305020 2012-10-04 03:37:00 I don't have a Skype acc. but I do have Skype credit, which has been reduced by 0,610 Euros as a result of last night's call. Vince (406)
1305021 2012-10-04 03:45:00 Isn't that a 2 degress cellphone number? In any case I'd dispute it, you can't be charged for receiving a call unless it's collect and then you have to accept the charges.
The only other option is if something on your PC was actually dialling out using skype.

I'm not so familiar with skype though, I only use it when I need to and shut it down the rest of the time. I don't let it sit active in the background.

1305022 2012-10-04 04:16:00 So that mobile number called your skype number? Do you have call forwarding or something set up, that perhaps is the cause of your charge? inphinity (7274)

If you log into the Skype website and check the usage log, what does the charge type appear as?

As inphinity mentioned above, do you have call forwarding set up (e.g. to forward calls from your Skype account to a landline or cellphone)?

The firewall and antivirus software make my computer air tight.
"you can't be charged for receiving a call".
I was. Skype rang like it does when my daughter calls me and when I answered I got the above call.

I only use Skype for video calls with my daughter.
