1281429 2012-06-13 09:18:00 I will say yes, the banks website is encrypted plod (107)
1281430 2012-06-13 09:19:00 1 all so far globe (11482)
1281431 2012-06-13 09:26:00 No, too risky if on public wi-fi. Surely common sense tells you that. Banks can have all the encryption in the world, doesn't mean the wi-fi is safe.

1281432 2012-06-13 09:30:00 Some banks guarantee their transfers it seems if you are using your own device even if it is on a public network (wifi).

Or that's what they told me anyway

1281433 2012-06-13 10:08:00 Hmmmmm.

The only secure "guarantee" that banks are able to provide when it comes to doing secure transactions is https encryption.

Man-in-the-middle attack can circumvent this security, but it is extremely hard to do so. I'm not sure the fact it is done over public wifi makes this method of cracking easier or not.

1281434 2012-06-13 12:31:00 If the WiFi is encrypted and you are using HTTPS connection to the bank (They damn well should be!) then it should be good enough.

Of course, running a connection through a network managed by someone you don't know, with other people you don't know possibly connected to it, comes some risk... but of course that just described an ISP and the whole Internet anyway... so...
