1281393 2012-06-13 07:59:00 I think the whole thing of trusts needs a proper review as I have known quite a few over the years using one as a loop hole to get tax relief or other benefits.

I suspect you won't see that happen any time soon as all the politicians have trust funds setup just incase..

1281394 2012-06-13 08:33:00 OK, while you are freezing in Hell I will be in my warm room knowing that I can pay my heating bills thanks to Government Super.

+1 for that!

1281395 2012-06-13 08:42:00 I retired at 65, not because I wanted to, but times were tough and two younger staff members would have been sacked if I didn't go. They needed the work more than I did. If you raise the retirement age unemployment will increase for the school leavers. The government will have to increase the Dole budget. mzee (3324)
1281396 2012-06-13 08:43:00 I would rather see parliament decide rather than a government, but that will not happen.

The term pig ignorance comes to mind when thinking of our lords and masters.

I wouldn't want to be stuck with paying back 2 or 3 years of Govt Super.

You did the right thing! Good on you.

As regards the Government, those good for nothing bunch of greedy idiots don't know (and don't bother) how to create more job opportunities. Of course, they are extremely good in creating more zeroes to their own personal bank accounts.

1281399 2012-06-13 09:52:00 They need a sliding retirement date so that the proportion of retirees to workers doesn't exceed a certain ratio.

Note I said WORKERS - it will be no good just bringing in a load of jobless immigrants.

Also, this will penalise a generation that doesn't have many kids and reward those that do.

Means testing is no good - the message it sends is "Don't save any money or we'll take it off you."

...

There's not enough of jobs in this country. Most of the immigrants are highly qualified and experienced professionals, and of course, they can't get jobs here. We shouldn't accept more immigrants if there's not enough jobs.

I think that you are confusing Govt Super with NZ Super.

Which is quite correct but how do they get residency without a job??? We have a lot of foreigners working at our workplace and they have a long road to get residency (~2 years). Without the job they wouldnt get it, so where the hell do all the others go to get residency or citizenship without a job??
