1280992 2012-06-11 18:28:00 I agree with Prefect . The collateral damage caused by Yank bombing, gun fire and missiles is far greater than any inflicted on them . So far as I am concerned if people kill other people in the same country it is the responsibility of the Rulers of that country to sort it . Its not anyone else's business . The atrocities committed by the Yanks in Korea and Vietnam are still effecting the people . Agent Orange for one . It doesn't matter how powerful a country is, it doesn't give them the right to interfere with other countries, uninvited . George Bush and Tony Blair should be brought before the war crimes tribunal and charged with the killing of thousands of Iraqi's in an illegal war . Pity about Bin Laden tho, I was getting to admire the guy!

Not being political here - not a voter and I certainly don't care about war as an answer or a question - but there is a greater common thread that history tries to shove under the carpet .

It seems to me in the data I've read about and gleaned over the years that the French were the primary instigators in (French) Indochina/Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia, French Guiana, French Samoa, The French & Indian Wars (particularly nasty!), the Boxer Rebellion, Côte d'Ivoire hostilities {later fermented into outright racial strife and tribal murders}, The Franco-Turkish War, The Crimean War (eg: an alliance of the French Empire w/the British Empire {who got sucked into this situation by France}, invoking the Ottoman Empire, and the Kingdom of Sardinia), The Second Opium War, The Suez Crisis {Disraeli got pillow-talked into 'assisting and comforting' with France here and the (by 1951) French sympathizers - legislated by mischief - (instrumentally in) the executions and murders of Brits in the territory}, and more .

In our current era, France stirred up the whole Indochinese territory and left it all hanging when they decided to observe the situation through their rear view mirrors - as is theirs: typical .

What happened then and thereafter wasn't neat, surgically clean, nor pretty: the operation was slightly successful, however the patient was left to die on the table . There's no doubt that that 'insurrection problem' wasn't a real problem in the first place until French intervention (with their failure to launch) - and should (maybe) have been left to it's own ultimate demise when eventually the Russian feeding trough of weapons and soldiers would dry up and Russia (eventually) went bankrupt in The Cold War .

Korea (the war) was largely fomented by hate for the French left-overs in the Chinese Civil War of 1945–1949 with memories from The Opium War(s) both 1 & 2 . The hate continued into The Autumn Uprising and was directly a catalyst for the North-South Korean Conflict from that point . Japan - to be fair - was goaded into eventual release of the Korean peninsula since their god-incarnate had lost the war (WW2), and the unrest that had been generated by old school verses neo-political post-achievists with 'The French Way' had infiltrated their political-mental self imagery .

Now - the US isn't really as nice as it wants to be known ('carry a big stick' and all) but as a lapdog to the UN and NATO - and let's not forget SEATO too --- the US has had it's bell rung a few times cleaning up after the instigation(s) and situations that were not entirely of it's own genesis . Again - I'm not defending .

Bad press or bad politics or bad ideas are not the whole applique attributable only to the US - there are others who slice and dice as they see fit too .

Insinuations that have been made as such is base-inflammatory (although not entirely deceitful) but it however IS a knee-jerk reaction-ism that draws to it's own self-aggrandizement and conclusions (albeit not totally black nor white) that there is only one demon in the mix .

Frankly - NO political power is clean nor pure (ain't THAT a surprise!) - there hasn't been a successful government in all of history - or else we'd not be speaking of them retroactively as: bad, worse, going, gone, dying or died . The fact that some (still) exist in one form or another at this date is only evidence positive that there's enough misguided tribal support to try to keep inflated a ruptured soccer ball .

Coffee Smelling 1A should be a required study subject .
