1305644 2012-10-07 21:27:00 I am helping a young lad create a video of a project he has been working on. Can anyone suggest free video editing software we can use?

Windows Live Movie Maker is quite good, but as far as I can see it can only assemble bits of video/images/music. We need to be able to edit the actual video, by trimming bits off the beginning and end, for instance, and we'd also like to add voice-over to single images as well.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

1305645 2012-10-07 22:04:00 all free options are completely useless, get a trial version ;) of Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. IMO Premiere is better. Slankydudl (16687)
1305646 2012-10-07 22:21:00 Freemake video converter can edit video. As well as convert. Dont know if its got a limit on the file size you load into it tho Speedy Gonzales (78)

1305649 2012-10-08 22:39:00 Freemake seems to to the trick - and it is definitely the right price.

I looked at both Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas, and although they would clearly do the job, they are much more than I need. Adobe seems to make it as difficult as possible to access their products these days - the download process was a total PITA, and I had to sign on with my Adobe ID, etc etc. I don't know why anybody bothers.

Thanks for the help.

1305650 2012-10-09 00:41:00 yeah it can be a hassle to get to the actual product and even then it takes a little while to figure out how to do stuff. Slankydudl (16687)
