1305425 2012-10-06 04:16:00 So I'm in a bit of a bind. On my Win 7 machine, attempting to add the printer (which is attached to the Vista machine) in 'Devices and printers' nets me the following:

iforce.co.nz (www.iforce.co.nz)

Problem is, HP don't offer the driver for download other than by plugging the printer into the PC in question and letting Windows Update grab it. Am I even going about this the right way? I had to click "the printer I want isn't listed">"select shared printer by name"> and then browse into the Vista machine on the network and select the printer there.

(this is all from the Win 7 machine, and it and the Vista machine can talk to each other fine AFAIK)

1305427 2012-10-06 07:17:00 No it doesn't :(

It links you to HP, which informs me that they don't offer them for download. Click it and see for yourself.

You may need to connect the printer directly first so that the win7 machine gets the driver from windows updates.

1305429 2012-10-07 03:34:00 Click on which message? Clicking 'okay' brings up a dialogue to browse to the location of the driver files (which of course I don't have), if that's what you mean. I might indeed try taking the printer into the other room with the Win 7 PC and plugging it in and letting Windows 7 install the driver...but really, that's totally backwards though. Thanks HP.
