1304786 2012-10-02 23:44:00 What antivirus program do you have?

Sorry if it says there and I missed it, was at a lan so got no sleep last night = me not the most awake lol.

The log scan doesn't look too bad to me, have you tried running ccleaner?
And just bear in mind here a celeron with 2gb of ram is never going to deliver incredible performance.

1304787 2012-10-03 02:58:00 The antivirus is PC tools the free version, I ran the ccleaner yesterday which got rid of a lot of stuff but when i closed it down last night there was 68 updates i had to do. ratrasta (14047)

Ok, I've woken up now :)
I would uninstall PC tools, and get Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) and Malwarebytes for you antivirus. Note here that MSE is an antivirus while malwarebytes is a antimalware, so it is perfectly fine (and beneficial) to have them both at once. Both are free.

Just double checking here, it is a 64 bit os?

Malwarebytes download link (http://www.malwarebytes.org/)
MSE download link (windows.microsoft.com)

Now, back to the lagging. Does it lag just when running some programs, or is the whole computer laggy, even when performing basic tasks?

EDIT - DOH! I really must have been asleep, you very nicely stated your AV right at the start of the post.

1304789 2012-10-03 03:20:00 Open up the task manager (right click startbar, ->task manager) and click on the 'processes' tab. How many google chrome entries are there? Also, what is the mem usage of each one? Nick G (16709)
1304790 2012-10-03 04:04:00 I have Malwarebytes and did have Microsoft Security Essentials but it had a lot of updates.

The lagging happens when opening the browser and other pages, and basic program's
64 bit OS

There's 6 Chrome entries
74,856
46,440
58,540
1,104
20,580
35,708
Why so many?

1304791 2012-10-03 04:04:00 There are a lot of "File missing", "Unknown owner" and "Unknown file" on the list. Looks odd to me. Suggest you wait until Speedy has a look at the report. bluenose (14548)

No, that's not unusual. Something to do with hijack this being a 32 bit program only and having trouble with 64 bit programs ( I think). Its definitely not concerning.

1304793 2012-10-03 04:19:00 Did you uninstall Office? You didnt delete its folders did you ? Missing files is normal with HJT and Win7. HJT needs to be updated. I would get rid of Pctools. Win7's firewall is good enough

updates are good, it means its being kept up to date with the latest virus databases and such. Not exactly sure why there are so many chrome entries, but I remember SurferJoe having an issue with chrome and thought it might be your issue as well. When you close chrome, are those entries still there? Might be worth uninstalling chrome and seeing if that helps. Definitely replace PC tools with MSE.
