| 1281095 | 2012-06-11 08:44:00 | Hi guys, Just had an energy saver bulb blow, poo what a stink! One of those curly ones Anyone know if the fumes are toxic? A burning plastic sort of smell, and the lamp connector part is charred. LL. :yuck: |

| 1281098 | 2012-06-11 09:21:00 | Thanks for that. The curly part has not broken, and is still intact in the mounting. It is a bayonet type and the bayonet that goes into the mounting is charred, the start of the curly bit is sort of yellowed and a bit black also. Just prior to it failing, it flickered a couple of times and then went pop fizztt! I won't climb up on a stool or chair tonight cost I'd probably fall off, so will leave it till tomorrow to remove it. Lol! I have turned it off at the wall. LL |

The reason I say this is that there are some brands that have been experiancing problems with or it may be from a batch that may be under recall . Why do I give you this advice? Because I deal with this type of stuff . |

Mum turned on the lights in the dining room one saturday morning while I was asleep, it was one of those candle shaped bulbs, just a 60 watter. The damn thing literally blew its cap and shot its bolt. The glass part shot off the base with a very loud pop. Fortunately didn't shatter when it hit the floor. | 8ftmetalhaed (14526) | ||

| 1281104 | 2012-06-11 22:12:00 | The light that we use the most is an energy saver bulb. It has been in for so long that I can't remember when it was put in. When it was the older type bulb we were replacing it 2 or 3 times a year. :) |
