57987 2002-06-28 06:13:00 Hello, all,
Trying the new forum....thanks for past help !But hey!, I tried out some of your advice and must have pushed the wrong button 'cos now I've lost "cut, copy and paste" :-( in my email! On the toolbar and right clicking. After an afternoon trying to recover them, I must throw myself to your mercy. Help! OS-ME (!),OE,V6. And now I've lost your emoticons -aaah well !
Cheers, Bill.

57988 2002-06-28 10:11:00 Hi Bill - don't know if this is what you are after cause i am not on my xp puter with o.e - (using outlook on this one, but they are pretty similar) but if i remember right it will be - View - toolbars - and check standard or something similar to that wording. If all else fails i will be back on my other puter later and check for you for the instructions. Or somebody will beat me to it cause this is a simple one!!! HTH :)

o.k just checked on the other puter - View - Layout and tick toolbar and you can also customise the toolbar in that screen. Or in new message go: View - Toolbars - tick standard buttons and tick standard formatting bar. Hope that does it.

57989 2002-06-28 11:01:00 Hello, J ZEP,
Thanks for your prompt reply, but no ,that doesn't work. Was the first place I went to. Like I said the command doesn't come up on a right click either. Wonder do I have to re-install OE? :p
Bill.

57990 2002-06-28 13:54:00 Bill when you say "lost on the tool bar" do you mean the one in the create new mail, they're not showing up in edit ? Are they not there or just greyed out? OR below that where you have: Send - Cut - Copy - Paste - undo (or whatever your preferences are)? Also what do you get when you right click? as in options? Still may be something simple? I am interested in what you do get when you right click? J ZEP (336)
57991 2002-06-28 23:50:00 'Morning, J ZEP,

You on nightwatch or something? I was well in the land of nod at your last reply ! But yes, all the relevant buttons are greyed out, including "properties" on a right click. *Copy* (on the toolbar) flicks on momentarily if I do a left click on the screen. Can't be much wrong, I was pasting watermarks from Word quite happily until Whooooops!, not there any more!! :p Thanks, Bill.

Hi Bill, yes i should have been in that land too - unfortunately i have rellies in oz who forget the timeline diff (we comm. through i.c.q)
Anyway did you do a successful copy and paste of your watermark OR did it just not work from the first attempt? And when you right click have you still got: 5 lines of options showing e.g - Select all - Font... - Paragragh... - Increase Indent - Decrease Indent ?
So are they only right click greyed out ones: Cut, Copy, Paste and Properties? I am dearly hoping this is the case ?
Sorry to drag this out with the questions but i have one theory on what the prob could be - and i am hoping thats what it is!!
;)

57993 2002-06-29 03:35:00 Hello, J Zep,

Yep!! You're spot on. I did paste the watermark successfully on several occaisions, :-) but then I fouled the system up! ;\ Your dearest hope is fulfilled (wish all were as easy ??)....just the "Cut, Copy, Paste, Properties" greyed out - as they are in the toolbar. You have the answer,(prays?). thanks, Bill.

57994 2002-06-29 11:05:00 Your Posting from 15/6/02 - Hello, all, thanks for past help.
Will someone please advise me how I shift a clipart *picture* to my email app.I want to use it as a background *watermark*. How do I shift the cursor in the OE new mail format? to place the clipart picture where I want it? I guess I can do it all in Word, but I'd like to do it as a straight email doc. Thanks, Bill.

Hi again Bill - Hey found this posting of yours that i had replied to as well from a few weeks back, anyway what technique have you been using, the one susan suggested? Because the only way i could get it to copy was not through word but Paint? Which was why i wondered if any had worked- but yours had !!! can you run through how for me? For me if i want to use a clipart picture as a background e.g watermark, i had to copy the clipart to paint and then resize etc and save as in my pics(jpg) and then get it through stationary from there!! And can move it postition it etc as you talked about in your previous post by Creating new stationary using the pic i chose (hope that makes sense) - Cause otherwise i got just what you are getting now, nothing!! But it was only that that didn't work - i could still cut, copy and paste other things in O.E - presume you have tried to copy and paste something else apart from the watermark? I am now intrigued as to how you were useing word to copy to O.E !!!???? Sorry i have got a bit off track here - but as it is now if i open a new e-mail and right click without highlighting anything to cut or copy ( as you will know) i get those button/options greyed out, so i was thinking along the lines of it is just the watermark that isn't copy and pasting as in my original prob and that is why they are greyed out then. But i guess you have tried to copy and paste something else to check eh. I am still working on it Bill !!!! Haven't given up quite yet!!!:)

57995 2002-06-30 00:52:00 'mornin, J ZEP,
Well, twas quite easy, really - had to be for a newbie! I got so frustrated at trying to import clipart via the *pictures* button on the OE toolbar, (original post)and still[b/] can't find out why it won't work for me,so I decided that there must be another way; so I went back to Word put app. disc in Cd and sorted out appr. clipart, formatted it to a watermark, *cut* said pic., went back to OE, positioned the line cursor where I wanted the watermark, went up to *paste*, (they were working then). placed cursor on line cursor, clicked and presto! :-) watermark where I wanted it. Just a matter then of resizing it to requirements. The ability to have a range of *pictures*, albeit pre printed ones at my disposal lends a *unique* format to an individual email.

I appreciated Susan's suggestion but didn't want to apply the watermark as a a*standard* stationery background to *all* emails, ie a *fishing* wm. to a fishing buddy, boats to a boatie, food to foodie etc.B-)

Thanks,[b] J ZEP, your ongoing help and interest is appreciated, Bill.

Yep i know exactly what you mean by that - I have got a standard one i use for alot of e-mails, but like you i like to have lots of different ones stored so i can change it to suit the recipient or my mood for that point - but as i said the only way i could get clipart into o.e was through copying to paint and then getting it into stationary as i explained - Anyway i wonder which way gives you the most formatting options? I am going to give it a go your way, out of interest - but i use xp, and i am sure it didn't work the Word way when i tried it, that was why i had to do it this way!
Thanks for the imfo on that Bill!! But you do know you can design them then save them in stationary and use them at will once you create them in stationary eh? i.e once you design say five different ones that you are happy with the formatting etc.. (that you may regularly want to use for specific peoples e-mails)save them in stationary then when you create a new e-mail you can just choose which stationary to apply - saves copy and pasting once you have a few that you like the way they are and you know you might like to use them again - and they don't have to be the *standard* stationary you just use/choose which one you want from there on. As for one off designs the copy paste is the way to go!!! As you have been doing!!
Anyway once again i am off your original topic :D - Did you have any joy just highlighting something and copy and paste it into a test e-mail? Also as you may have realised with some copy and paste work you have to use the main: Edit on the toolbar to get it to copy or paste - i run into this from time to time when the right click copy and paste are greyed out! seems to depend on what program you are using to copy from i think.
So did it work for a new mail message and just a normal copy of some text or whatever?
