I tried to install a Zip drive on Win98 machine, something went wrong and when I re-started nothing worked. I've re-installed Win98 but it will not find hardware, never gets that far. Only runs in Safe Mode. I've removed the CD from the device manager but install never gets that far in Win98 to see it again. Start up gets to MSCDEX then stops. There was a service pack 1 in the machine when it worked. I can't loose the hard drive info, is there a way out of this? |

That's crazy. How can it screw up a zip drive? I've installed heaps of zip drives on all windows OSs and all I've done is plug it in, switch it on and it detects it (sometimes have to do a detect in BIOS, but they've never not worked first go.
Were you trying to install drivers or something? Coz you don't actually need them. |

If you try and install a zip drive that is accidentally set to "master" on the same IDE channel as the HDD, trust me - it can screw your system really badly |
