58147 2002-06-29 13:47:00 Sorted ou the few problems I was having with free downloaded
602PC SUITE 2001.

Still think it is excellent. Also downloaded "My PowerDesk" and
"FreshDiagnose"

Here some reviews:
"The PC Suite freeware package contains not only word processing and spreadsheet programs, but also the 602 Album image archiving program, which has a very easy-to-use filter for removing the red-eye effect..."
AGFAnet, March 2002

"The free 602Pro PC Suite Plus 2001 is a compact application that works well..."

"602Pro (PC SUITE) is an MS Office clone, and a pretty good one at that. It even features a few additional amenities, such as the ability to preview items as you explore..."

And it's only 14 MB
It's goodbye from me, Antonia

58148 2002-06-30 01:57:00 I particularly like www.tucows.ihug.co.nz because i'm on cable, and only allowed a pathetic 10 gig of international traffic :-(. Tucows.ihug is locally hosted, and helps me stay within my quota:-). To the best of my knowledge tucows.co.nz is the same tucows mirror, as hosted by ihug.

Also debian.paradise.net.nz is great for those wishing to download linux distributions. I'm not sure if it is available to those not connected with paradise though, (could someone tell me before i recommend it again) for us cable users, it is totally free traffic.

58149 2002-06-30 02:16:00 Susan, feel free to nominate me as a contributor

Also, just in case, if you did need hosting, I can provide on my server.
Now that Audiogalaxy is dead, and i am thus no longer serving the entire P2P network, i have all the bandwidth i could ever want for small projects like this!

BTW, i do have a busy weekend, but she insisted that i had to get up, so i have a few minutes to spare, for the moment.

58150 2002-06-30 02:29:00 One suggestion I'd make is that we could do this via the FAQ system. One or more FAQ's dedicated to download sites could do the trick. With the new FAQ page coming on Monday, it would provide and easy to find thread (or threads) for useful download sites that could be constantly updated. We could actually just replace the entire contents of the main post via the admin side of things so you wouldn't have to keep adding posts to the thread. Biggles (121)

58152 2002-06-30 04:38:00 It would be a good idea to suggest that local mirrors would be preferred, if they exist. Local mirrors reduce the amount of international bandwidth used, so benefit [b] everyone [/]. I was amazed to see the reaction when google set up a mirror in NZ. People were posting here how to "cleverly" bypass the redirection the ISPs were sensibly doing, so that google.com requests went to google.co.nz . Graham L (2)
58153 2002-06-30 10:11:00 Hi Antonia,
Have loaded 602 to my puter a couple weeks now and the only prob I have is the damn spellchecker is not working, it works in the spreadsheet.
I had to register the program for free, in order for it to work but it dont, so how you getting on with it.
Had MS Office 2000 but encountered a few probs so went for the free version and am loving it.

58155 2002-07-02 06:17:00 Hi Poppa John,

Wow, some one is actually talking to "me". After originally starting this thread, I thought I was an invisible fly on the ceiling.

602Pro SUITE 2001 can be downloaded from www.software602.com.
The link to the download site is www.software602.com

It is a great program, although it took me a while to get it working the way I wanted it. It has a forum and tips and tricks, which are very helpful. Also a full manual that can be downloaded.
You can make 602Text look like MSOffice Word 97.(One of the tips I liked)

So give it a go Poppa. Hope it works for you.
Bye for now, Antonia

58156 2002-07-02 06:36:00 Hi Merlin,

Yes, I had some problems too with the spellcheck.
Go Tools>language selection. That opens an option box. Select the english version compatible with your default regional settings.

Then, in the same option box, activate the main spelling dictionary, which in my case brings up the following path: C:\Program Files\common Files\soft602\Dict\British.hash

It may still want to go back to the english US version, next time you open 602Text. Then select from the Toolbar the english version you want.

Hope this helps. Have you checked out the spreadsheet and photo editor? I have not but look forward to trying them out.

Cheers Merlin, Antonia
