57858 2002-07-01 00:46:00 All well and good, but what if you want to write a cd to autorun at boot time (a bootable cd)?

I admit most beople won't ever have the need to do this, but it would be a useful addition for those of us who do.

cheers,

57860 2002-07-01 02:01:00 Sorry

I getting not clear between Auto-boot & Auto-run, my last post should be Auto-run

57862 2002-07-02 11:52:00 A bit more for TAKE 3?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To open or auto-run a text file (readme.txt) you might like to include, notepad, wordpad, metapad, whateverpad, on the CDROM you might like to go in
[autorun]
open=metapad.exe readme.txt
With a space between the program name and file name.
~~~~~~~ end of a bit more ~~~~~~~~

While this works well from a batch file, I have not tested it on a CDROM,
I have made a Auto-run CDROM using the method before my original posting and it works well, including on my computer and a couple of other computers I have tired it on.

57863 2002-10-10 05:07:00 Here are some more sources for the autorun.exe file:
devx.co.
dl-c.com
www.simtel.net/pub/pd/33104.htm

It seems that the file can be .exe, .com. or .bat .

57864 2002-10-10 07:13:00 Thanks for that Graham.
If it can be a .exe, .com or .bat it would be rather easy to whip up a batch file in that case.

57865 2002-10-10 08:49:00 Hi, I just tried a batch file to run index.htm and it worked a treat.

ie
autorun.inf

[autorun]
open=run.bat

run.bat

@echo off
index.htm

57866 2002-10-10 08:56:00 Graham, your links don't work.

the second one should have a .html extension, not .htm

The first one I don' know.

The last one is OK.
