2002-06-29 02:34:00 A couple of months ago I had to do a 'clean' install of windows ME, but since then I have had to put in restore points manually - no system restore points have been created. There is plenty of disk storage space, I check for Windows updates weekly, and the restore works to any of my manually created points. I have also turned the restore function off, and then back on again to clear any possibly corrupt restore points that may have been in the system. (The clean install was Microsoft NZ's idea because they could not figure out why my system would not restore to any of 30+ restore points.) How do I get my system to start creating "System Restore Points" again? jpatrick (737)
2002-06-29 02:39:00 John, have you seen the following article. (Sorry I'm not a WinME xpurt)
It may have some helpful advice.

2002-06-29 03:00:00 Thanks for your quick reply. Sadly there is nothing new for me in that article, but it seems that there might have been a fix for the original problem. Pity MS people did not know about it. jpatrick (737)
2002-06-30 01:02:00 Uninstall the ME restore and install GoBack its far more reliable ans easy to use reqires a bit of HDD space but very good essential in my case as i always like to try out new programmes and to tweak my PC for optimal performance kiwibeat (304)
2002-06-30 20:41:00 Just wondering, is your hard drive constantly working? I had similar problem with GoBack some time ago. GoBack would only create a restore point when the computer was idle and all was well and no data was being written to hard drive. I found that something was using resources regularly and as a result GoBack could not create restore point. Not sure if MS RESTORE does the same but worth a look. sam m (517)
