58682 2002-06-30 23:53:00 You'll see a new menu item in the top menu bar - FAQs (pressf1.co.nz). This takes you to the FAQ page. The FAQ page will list any post that has been tagged as an FAQ, and then given a number (both things done in the admin system - moderaters need to set the properties).

Apart from that the FAQs are like any other post. They will show up in the main page as well, and can be either locked or unlocked.

Since they can also be edited, like any post, by the moderator, it might be appropriate, once there is general agreement that a FAQ is "finished" for the mod/s to go in and edit the FAQ to combine any appropriate comments/corrections back into the main post. Clean em up, in other words.

I suggest we add to the list (which already has: 29 Where do I get updated drivers for my hardware?) either one or more FAQs for software download sites. I don't know how you want to categorise something like that - whether one FAQ listing sites in categories is best or several different FAQs covering different types of download sites (patches, freeare/shareware etc etc). Suggestions welcome.

58683 2002-07-01 04:11:00 That's quite a good way of handling it Bruce. Can I suggest though, that the "FAQ #" bit be deleted from the Subject line, it looks too crowded. I think the number can stay for general reference but since it's got the FAQ status it doesn't need the rest of it.

I agree that once a FAQ is deemed tidied up and complete it should be locked down so that additional posts or alterations to each FAQ can only be made by an administrator/moderator at someone's request.

Regarding the layout of software download and help site links we will have to see how many we get I think. If the list isn't too large it can all go on one page with each topic under its own heading, eg patches, freeare/shareware etc like you suggested. A very short description can go with some links, if necessary.

I'm quite happy to organise this, it's right up my street, if you and others are happy to let me. :D

58684 2002-07-01 21:27:00 Just a small suggestion if I may be so bold .

Is there any possibility that "Printer Friendly" can be incorporated into the pages . Especially the FAQ .

Someone mentioned PC911 a while ago so being the inquiring person I am I had a look and if you want to print off the replies there is that option .

Don`t know what is with my printer but even when I highlight what I want to print and chose "selection" I still get the entire page printed .

You people have done a marvellous job with this site and all the hiccups seem to have been ironed out .

Have a good day .
