| 58507 | 2002-06-30 05:57:00 | Hello all, First time poster with a problem. I run Netscape communicator 4.77 and today when I opened it up to check my e-mail my e-mail with all my previously collected emails was empty. There was about 100 or so emails there yesterday, many of which had important information which I REALLY need. Anybody got any ideas about what happened, or more importantly, how to get them back? I'm the only one who uses my computer and I know I didn't delete them all. My 2nd thought was maybe it was a virus, but I run PC-cillin 2000 V7.51 all the time in the background and I've done a scan but came up clean. All the other folders still have their contents. Ideas anyone? |

My only suggestions are that either you have told netscape you are someone else, it has setup up a default profile for you, or you have asked netscape to move its record of your profile location, or you have moved the profile location by renaming the drive or folder(s) that it lives in. Its a while since i have used netscape, as these days i much prefer Opera, so forgive me if i mislead you. By memory there are settings in the preferences that define for the user profile(s) the location of - email prefs/stores, - news stores, -cache/bookmarks/prefs, If these get messed with, you will have a problem similar to what you have now, particularly the one for email prefs/store Run a search for "inbox.snm" Netscape email preferences *should* point to a folder containing this and similarly named files, such as outbox, outbox.snm etc. |
