2002-07-01 10:39:00 | Are any free ISPs - ZFree, E4Free or the like still in existence? Was asked today which ISP is the cheapest but didn't know. Any recommendations? For new immigrants presumably wanting to email home and surf cheaply.

2002-07-01 11:00:00 | Hi ya Heather, Zfree has gone. I still use i4free sometimes (Only in the quiet times, otherwise takes too long to connect) although they aren't taking new accounts. Might be able to find one on trademe.co.nz For price and time comparisons, consumers.org.nz have a pretty good chart to help you choose. Also, use the search function on F1 as this has come up before, for more help. Cheers.

2002-07-01 11:11:00 | I guess they need the internet to check out consumer.org :D but I did suggest they find a copy of consumer in the local library. Will go look now to see if I need to be a subscriber for this info. Thanks

2002-07-01 11:15:00 | I'm very happy with Slingshot ISP (was i4free). Only $14.95 a month (payable 3 months in advance) for unlimited hours. Only has coverage in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch currently. I believe www.freenet.co.nz have a truly free service still but it is only for about 3 hours a month.

2002-07-01 11:20:00 | Consumer have the answer. Brilliant site. Should have thought of it before particularly as I suggested the mag to them! Trouble is, the last few times I've gone there the general info is available but reports are hidden. On this topic it's all available to view. Thanks Heather

2002-07-01 15:28:00 | Heather. 2am & cannot sleep. Having a nosy @ F1 instead. Had a look at consumer.org.nz but no Free ones, some pretty cheap tho. As to freenet.co.nz i f understand them correctly it is only "FRREE" if you live outside of Auck, Wgtn & Chch & have to make a Tollcall to connect to those 3 centres. The first 200hrs/month is free. | 58878 | 2002-07-01 23:29:00 | free.net.nz (http://www.free.net.nz) is free if you keep your usage below 200 minutes. | cadifan (286) | |

2002-07-02 09:41:00 | Ah well, printed some stuff off the consumer web site and passed it on today. It should give them something to think about. This isn't actually my problem - I was asked because I was there.
