| 59028 | 2002-07-01 21:42:00 | I have recently reformatted my compaq armada laptop and installed w98 Since then the performance has been poor. When I send documents to the printer it takes a age before they print and during that time of course i cant do any other computing... Another example is when I load ICQ the train whistle sound that plays during the loading sounds in fits and starts.. like the whistle blower has to take another breath ;-) I have looked at the system performance and it says that it is optimised. I have 96mb or RAM and a 4gb HD. It is almost like there is insufficient RAM for the system to use. I would appreciate any suggestions to improve the situation. |

If you have a different defrag program than the normal windows one, use that. If not, use the windows one. Other than that, check to see what processes are running. You may have something going in the background that is using a lot of rescourses. |
