58882 2002-07-01 11:47:00 Hello all!!!
My name is Phi.
I am wondering If someone could help me to solve this problem.
At the moment , I'm starting a business, it's a LAN network which allows users to access the Internet.
But I have just faced a problem which I can't firgure it out how to fix it.

The problem is:
My proxy server can use Yahoo Voice Chat and Yahoo Webcame but the other machines can't. When I go to Yahoo Help, it says "behind firewall" , they don't allow other machines in the Local Area Network to use these services ( Webcam & Voice Chat ) except my server.

I have 25 computers and 1 server using Win 98 SE and WinGate 4.41 to run the entire network.

Is there any other way to avoid this ? I want all machines are able to use Yahoo WebCam and Voicechat.

I really appreaciate your help and suggestions. Many many thanks to you all!!!!

Cheers guys

58883 2002-07-01 11:56:00 Hi Phi

I tried using Yahoo at home on the network and came across the same problem. Maybe due to the need to all be logged into the Yahoo Server, and sharing the same ISP?

Try using Microsoft Netmeeting, you can specify the IP addys on your LAN to connect to. The only downside is that the conversations are one on one, rather than multiple cameras that Yahoo offers.

58884 2002-07-01 12:33:00 sorry i don't do much with office lan setups but i was wondering if using win98 on a server box to provide internet access is just begging for trouble??

thoughts anyone. i would have thought using nt/w2k would have been better.
