58775 2002-07-01 04:42:00 I have two problems

1 I have a default switchboard with a number of underlying ones. I do not want the title to go through to all the other swithcboards, is there a wary of 'unlinking them please?

2 I put information in through a form an all is well in reports etc. However if I go back to the form to delete a record it shows no records ( when doing this through the swithcboard) However when I bring up the individual form by clicking on it the record is there and is able to be deleted. IE. The record can be viewed through the form and deleted but when using the swithhboard to go to the form it does not show

What am I doing wrong please

58776 2002-07-01 05:13:00 By 'default switchboard' do you mean one that has been generated by a wizard? What version of Access are you using?

Regarding point 2) - It looks like the form may be being opened in 'DataEntry' Mode via the switchboard. This allows you to add records, but not view/edit records that are pre-existing. Check the 'openform' arguments in the switchboard code.

58777 2002-07-01 09:06:00 Hello Davids,

Not sure about your 1st question, although open the offending switchboards in design view, might give some idea as to wether you can change things, or what I have done is created a form, with buttons leading to the information, and linked that to the switchboard.

Wuppo is right, change your command in the command box, to "open form in edit mode"

cheers,
Bob

58778 2002-07-01 10:26:00 You'll find that the switchboards run macros. Go have a look at a few of the macros and see how they work.

If you are opening to "new record" it will be shown that way in the appropriate macro. Click the drop down box and have a play.

Note: Until you get the hang of it, change one thing at a time (after first writing down what was there so you can restore it!) test it, then continue to play.

Even better - make a copy of the database and play with that.

Thanks for your comments. I am using version 2000(9.0 etc)
And yes it is the switchboard generated by the wizard (I am at the limit of my knowledge and trying hard)

Point 2
I assume that you meant the following code?
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
' Minimize the database window and initialize the form.

' Move to the switchboard page that is marked as the default.
Me.Filter = "[ItemNumber] = 0 AND [Argument] = 'Default' "
Me.FilterOn = True

End Sub
I so can you instruct me please

Eternally grateful for your help

58780 2002-07-02 01:43:00 Bob,
Thanks for that I rather thing that you suggestion is the only one
lets hope that some one comes up with another answer though.
I have three clubs tha I am responsible and the information is similar but needs to be kept separately and I think that on each switchboard I need to identify the club for them
