59319 2002-07-02 23:45:00 Hi Everyone:

I would be grateful to know what is still out there as regards to programs for downloading mp3 files and what you would recommend a newbie to use.

I was recommended Audiogalaxy, but can't get it to work!

Looking forward to your input - Regards, Dot_Com

59320 2002-07-03 00:04:00 WinMX is fairly good, though the server selection isnt ever going to be as good as Napster. You'll find that trying to download anything popular is generally going to land you in a queue of 15 or so people with a handful of timeouts. Try limewire also. I havent used it, but it is meant to be pretty good if you can handle the initial download. honeylaser (814)
59321 2002-07-03 00:05:00 as far as i know Audiogalaxy is history. try winMX or kazaa lite (http://www.kazaalite.com/) tweak'e (174)
59322 2002-07-03 00:39:00 audiogalaxy WAS brilliant, i got about 11,000 - 12,000 songs, and then lost ½ of them when a HD died. But it's dead now, i shared 1280, and last time i ran it None were copied off me in over 24 hours The RIAA won, AG is dead.
I have tried win mx, and to be honest, it aint as good. I ran 2 searches for resonably obscure stuff, and ran winmx for over 24 hours and found nothing at all. It is the best there is to my knowledge.

59323 2002-07-03 01:52:00 Yup, Audiogalaxy is history. I hear WinMX is going to get hit soon as well, although that is yet to be determined. There are other clients out there, more notably and you can read up on these @ http://www.zeropaid.com

I am trying WinMX myself, as well as a spyware free version of Grokster... both are nowhere near as good as Audiogalaxy was, but just my opinion anyway.

Cheers,

Lo.
